The aim of our study was to comparatively analyze the transcriptomes of Lycium barbarum L. cultivars 'Ningqi No.1' and 'Qixin No.1' during the fruit development and identify differential expression genes associated with the biosynthesis of bioactive compounds . Present outcome provides a molecular insight into the dynamics of multiple active ingredients biosynthesis and accumulation across different cultivars of Lycium barbarum, which would be meaningful for further gene expression and functional genes studies, and molecular breeding of Lycium varieties with enhanced health benefits.
