How children learn complex environmental concepts through digital storytelling: divergent pathways to knowledge and stewardship intention

This dataset contains the anonymised individual-level data supporting the analyses reported in the manuscript entitled From Learning Experience to Behavioural Intention: Examining the Effects of Animation-Based Industrial Heritage Learning among Primary School Students. The dataset comprises three assessment occasions: T0: Baseline (pre-viewing) Content Knowledge (CK) assessment. T1: Immediate post-viewing assessment, including CK, experiential perception scales, and Place-based Sustainability Stewardship Intention (PESI). T2: Two-week follow-up assessment of CK and cognitive load. The files contain anonymised participant IDs and questionnaire responses only. No personally identifiable information is included. The data were collected from 452 primary school students (Years 1–6) in China as part of a classroom-based educational intervention evaluating a five-minute digital storytelling animation about the Dagushan Iron Mine. These datasets support the analyses presented in the manuscript, including: Content Knowledge (CK) analyses; Structural Equation Modelling (SEM); Multiple regression analyses; Item-level accuracy comparisons across T0, T1, and T2; Supplementary Materials (S6–S9). All variables are described in the accompanying data dictionary.
