Atlas of neighbouring Limburg

The Law on neighbouring roads of 10 April 1841 required the municipalities at the time to draw up an Atlas of neighbouring roads. As a result, 197 atlases were created in the province of Limburg. These atlases consist mainly of two hatches: on the one hand, the plans of the neighbourhood roads and, on the other hand, tables describing these roads and the neighbouring owners. Two copies of these atlases are present in each municipality and in the provincial administration respectively. The atlases are legally valid and, as such, are regularly consulted under the Law on neighbouring roads. In addition to administrative authorities, these atlases are used quite frequently by historians, archaeologists, architects, surveyors, study centres, etc. It is also an interesting basis for assigning historical street names, the identification of mills, castles, stem tree surveys, etc.《邻路法》（Law on neighbouring roads）于1841年4月10日正式颁布，其中要求当时的各市政当局编制邻路图集（Atlas of neighbouring roads）。据此，林堡省（Limburg）共编制完成197部此类图集。该类图集主要涵盖两大组成部分：其一为邻路平面测绘图，其二为记载相关道路及周边土地所有者的信息表格。各市政当局及省级行政机关各留存有一套该图集的完整副本。此类图集具备法定效力，因此会依照《邻路法》的相关规定定期被调取查阅。除行政主管部门外，历史学家、考古学家、建筑师、测量师、研究机构等群体也时常会使用这些图集。此外，它们还可作为历史街道命名、磨坊与城堡辨识、立木勘测（stem tree surveys）等工作的重要参考依据。
