Using an UAV platform, the changes in vegetation caused by deer impacts in the marshland were monitored. The study was conducted at Mizorogaike Marsh (Kita-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; Area: approximately 0.08 km²), using Menyanthes trifoliata and Zizania latifolia as indicator species. UAV-based aerial imagery was captured in October 2015 and 2023, as these species are easily distinguishable from other plants during this period. In October, when it is easy to distinguish M. trifoliata and Z. latifolia from other plants, aerial imagery of the wetland were taken using a UAV, and orthomosaic images for 2015 and 2023 were created. First, polygons for M. trifoliata and Z. latifolia were generated using AI-based image recognition. Then, using GIS, the detection results (polygons) were visually inspected and corrected. Regarding the final patch polygon data for M. trifoliata and Z. latifolia, field verification indicated that for both 2015 and 2023, nearly all distributions in the survey area were detected through AI-based image recognition followed by visual correction. However, no final accuracy verification of the patch polygon data using field survey data was performed.
