Bristlecone Pine Genome Sequencing

The purpose of this project was to obtain sequence information from bristlecone pine nuclear DNA that could be used to develop microsatellite markers. These markers were then used to conduct a population genetics analysis from bristlecone pine samples collected across its range in Utah and Nevada. We want to assess between and within population genetic variation to determine if geographic separation between populations is leading to genetic isolation. This information could be used to inform policy decisions related to the conservation of bristlecone pine populations in the western United States.
