Mitotically active reproductive germ cells, primordial germ cells, are an ideal cell for storing genetic material from avian species. Their low number in the embryo, however, renders the development of cryopreservation and transmission methodologies difficult. Here, we develop an in vitro culture medium for PGCs from two goose breeds of Anser anser domesticus.
