Passenger transport operations of Navigazione Generale Italiana in the Mediterranean and Black Sea (1891-1892)

This dataset contains structured statistical data on passenger transport operations of Navigazione Generale Italiana on Mediterranean and Black Sea routes for the years 1891–1892, transcribed and organised from historical company statistics. Passenger figures are recorded by port/route and classified both by passenger category and travel class. Categories include: Passengers – regular civilian travellers Civil servants – public officials or employees transported for service purposes Military personnel – members of the armed forces Prisoners For ordinary passengers, civil employees, and military personnel, data are further subdivided into Class I, II, and III, reflecting the hierarchical accommodation and fare structure used in steamship travel. The original printed tables have been transcribed and reorganised into spreadsheet format to enable quantitative analysis and reuse.
