Phage to control Aeromonas hydrophila in striped catfish in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

The sustainable striped catfish production in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam (MKDVN) has been negatively impacted by antibiotic resistant diseases, which were found more seriously in fish farms, and also by antibiotic residues in the exported catfish products. In such circumstances, therapeutic bacteriophages are now considered to be the alternative antibiotics. Screening phage candidates form such a collection for therapeutic application, however, is not enough if it is based on in vitro tests only. In this proposal, selection of potential phages based on genomic analysis and in vivo trials are proposed.
