Aerosol Optical Depth was obtained from the NASA MODIS Terra satellite, via the Giovanni online data system https://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov/giovanni/, developed and maintained by the NASA GES DISC (Acker & Leptough, 2017). We obtained this for the buoy locations M3 and M4, at 1x1 degree boxes around the sampling sites.
