Supplemental data for: Coming of age: Changes in laying hen pullets’ threat processing and fear behavior

This study investigated whether these changes in threat processing and fear responses also affect pubertal laying hens, when they could modulate or exacerbate negative experiences specific to this life-stage. Pullets were raised with modified developmental trajectories (two growth rates and two ages at photostimulation) resulting in standard vs delayed puberty. A subset of naïve birds underwent a combined novel arena (NA) and novel object (NO) test at one of four times: pre-puberty, early puberty, late puberty, and post-puberty.
