Forensic drug identifications and population drug use across Canadian provinces: data and analysis code (2020–2025)

Reproducible data and analysis code for a study with the working title "Forensic identifications and drug use in Canada." The deposit contains the raw input data, a self-contained R script (R 4.3.3) that reproduces all reported results, the derived datasets, and the three data figures, which the script regenerates on each run. The script follows a raw data → processing → analysis → outputs pipeline and regenerates every statistic, table, and figure in the study, including the log–log scaling analysis, robustness battery, and sensitivity analyses. Unit of analysis: province (n = 10). The primary public data sources are Government of Canada open data. Forensic drug identifications are from Health Canada's Drug Analysis Service, Analysed Drug Report: https://health-infobase.canada.ca/drug-analysis-service/analyzed-drug-report.html. Population drug-use estimates are derived from the Canadian Substance Use Survey (CSUS) 2023 Public Use Microdata File, released on the Open Government Portal: https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/65e2d45e-efc6-4c29-9a9b-db59bc96aa0e. The CSUS microdata are not redistributed here; download them from the official link to reproduce the denominator from source.
