The dataset contains raw data for physiological, morphological and growth traits measured from six improved poplar varieties under two different rainfall treatments (rainfed and 50% rainfall exclusion). Also included are the climatic variables for the site of experiment (2023 - 2025). Detailed information about the full scientific names, abbreviations, provenances and corresponding climates as well as survival ratio for trees can be found in the file named variety information. Raw data incorporated in the folder include leaf vulnerability curves measured using optical visualization technique (rainex_hydraulics@2_vulnerability_curves_ov), leaf vulnerability curves measured using the rehydration kinetics (rainex_hydraulics@2_vulnerability_curves_rk), stem vulnerability curves measured using bench dehydration (rainex_hydraulics@2_vulnerability_curves_bd), temperature dependence of chlorophyll fluorescence variables (rainex_hydraulics@2_chl_temperature_response), leaf pressure volume traits (rainex_hydraulics@2_pressure_volume_traits), in situ leaf water potential (rainex_hydraulics@2_water_potential), specific leaf area (rainex_hydraulics@2_specific_leaf_area), branch Huber value (rainex_hydraulics@2_branch_huber_value) and sapwood density (rainex_hydraulics@2_sapwood_density), and growth measurement (rainex_hydraulics@2_growth_measurement). Meanwhile, the file named rainex_hydraulic@2_summary_of_traits contains averaged trait values for correlation analysis.
