KBO02: Load controlled axial cyclic testing on snakeskin-inspired pies

This project addresses the effects of soil-structure behavior at the interface when the structural element is asymmetrically structured. This texturing can be applied both to planar applications, such as geosynthetics, or pile shafts. The texturing induces a directional dependence in terms of interface friction angle, which leads to differences in shear resistances which may be outside the bounds expected from many many formulations of pile shaft resistance.
