Mtb barcodes from SIV-infected and SIV-naive macaques 6 weeks post-Mtb infection

In this study, we sequenced the molecular barcode of Mtb Erdman strain that was used to infect adult SIV-infected and SIV-naive Mauritian cynomolgus macaques. Six weeks following Mtb infection, animals were necropsied and lung, lymph node, and granuloma samples were plated. Genomic DNA was extracted from Mtb grown on agar plates and sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq. Using this data, we can examine how a chronic, pre-existing SIV infection impacts mycobacterial diversity and dissemination.
