Raw sequence reads (16SrRNA gene) of common bean seed endophytes: rain-out shelter field experiment

This study was conducted to assess the responses of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) seed endophyte communities to drought simulated using rain-out shelters in two experimental fields at different latitudes in Michigan: the Michigan State University Agronomy Farm (Lower Peninsula) and the Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center (UPREC). The work is part of a larger field trial investigating the drought resistance of different common bean cultivars. Understanding how seed endophytes respond to drought is a fundamental step toward developing strategies to enhance plant tolerance to drought stress.
