Ecosystem services

The United Nations scientific programme called Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MEA) was designed to gather information on the conservation status of the planet’s ecosystems and their services. The MSE has a multiscale nature covering the local, national, regional and global scales. Among the objectives of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment project in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country is to quantify and evaluate some ecosystem functions and services for use in sustainable land management through GIS programmes.联合国发起的千年生态系统评估（Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, MEA）科学计划，旨在采集全球生态系统及其服务功能的保护现状相关信息。该计划具备多尺度特性，覆盖本地、国家、区域及全球多个尺度。在巴斯克自治区实施的千年生态系统评估项目，其目标之一是通过地理信息系统（Geographic Information System, GIS）工具，量化并评估部分生态系统功能与服务，以支撑可持续土地管理工作。
