Municipal waste recycled per capita in the European Union 1995-2022

In 2022, municipal waste recycling in the European Union (EU-27) was estimated at 153 kilograms per capita, a decrease of 5.6 percent in comparison to the previous year. In comparison to 1995, however, per capita waste recycling in the region has nearly tripled.Recycling (excluding composting) accounted for roughly 30 percent of municipal waste treatment in the European Union in 2022.
