Slaveholding Patterns among Free Women of Color in New Orleans, 1810-1820

This dataset records 1,584 sales and purchases of enslaved peoples made by free women of color in New Orleans from 1810 to 1820. These transactions were recorded in a notary’s office, where selling and purchasing enslaved people was routine business.
