This study aims to investigate the genomic diversity and evolution of Edwardsiella piscicida, a major pathogen of Japanese flounder. We will conduct whole-genome sequencing of five E. piscicida strains, including four recently isolated strains and one historical strain. Comparative genomic analysis will focus on identifying genomic islands, particularly those carrying genes related to virulence, antibiotic resistance, and environmental adaptation. This research will provide insights into the mechanisms driving bacterial evolution and inform strategies for controlling E. piscicida infections in aquaculture
