Oncogenic mutations of KIT/PDGFRA in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) correlate with tumor phenotype, prognosis and the response to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. However, the mutation status of KIT/PDGFRA does not fully explain the complex and diverse biology of GISTs. We performed whole exome sequencing in 9 GIST samples to identify novel somatic mutations.
