Horticultural Specimens Collection

The Horticultural Specimens Collection comprises approximately 6000-7000 horticultural specimens originally used as a teaching and research collection at the (now) University of Melbourne's Burnley campus. The Burnley Gardens at the Burnley campus date back to 1861, when the Horticulture Society of Victoria established experimental gardens on the site. The specimens were collected from various locations by staff and students of Burnley college/campus. Uncatalogued; awaiting accessioning. Little is known about the provenance of the collection and its history.
