Report and Images from an Archaeological Test Pit Watching Brief at at 2-6 Lightbody Street, Liverpool, 2022

This collection comprises reports and images from an Archaeological Test Pit Watching Brief at at 2-6 Lightbody Street, Liverpool, 2022. The watching brief was required as a precommencement condition of a planning application to monitor fourteen ground investigation pits as part of Phase 1 of archaeological monitoring. Phase 1 results revealed the mid to late 19th century archaeological remains surviving to the south and west of the Site. Subsequently, Phase 2 of an archaeological watching brief was undertaken periodically between 18th August and 4th November, targeting the projected footprint of the canal basin which had been plugged and in-filled during the 20th century. This included an additional four test pits, revealing the extent of survival of the canal basin walls, followed by a watching brief to monitor all groundworks required as part of the remediation within the canal basin.
