This dataset contains impulse responses of a Genelec 8030C loudspeaker for use in virtual acoustics to recreate the directivity of a real sound source. It can also be used in room acoustic simulation tools. Measurements were conducted in an anechoic chamber at the Jade Hochschule in Oldenburg, Germany (3.2 m x 3.5 m x 2.1 m, measured between absorber wedges). The room was lined with approximately 60 cm Basotect wedge absorbers to provide free-field conditions above about 160 Hz. The loudspeaker was mounted centrally on a turntable, and a G.R.A.S. 40AF 1/2" free-field measurement microphone was placed on a tripod one metre from the centre of the loudspeaker. A measurement grid of 5° steps in both azimuth and elevation was used, with a custom protractor-based holder ensuring precise microphone placement. A total of 37 elevation angles (-90° to +90°) and 37 azimuth angles (0° to 180°, left hemisphere) were measured, yielding 1369 individual measurements. Assuming symmetry, the impulse responses for the right hemisphere were mirrored, resulting in a total of 2664 impulse responses and an azimuthal resolution of 5° from 0° to 355°. Measurements were performed using MATLAB and PureData with custom scripts, and the RME Fireface UC audio interface was used. For each angle, a five-second exponential sine sweep (20 Hz – 22.05 kHz) at a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz was used as an excitation signal. The impulse responses of the Genelec 8030C are provided in the Spatially Oriented Format for Acoustics (SOFA), including descriptions of the source and receiver and their relation to azimuth and elevation angles. We also added a minimum-phase version of the dataset, which might be useful for real-time applications.
