UNDERGRADUATE SHOWCASE: Making Poetry Pop7th April 2025Poetry is more than what you learn at GCSE – it pops up in many unexpected ways, breaking away from the traditional strict structure.Participants explored performance poetry and how it is sparking a new wave of interest in poetry, with younger folks actively engaging with this genre. The event focused on the connection between spoken word poets and the LGBTQ+ community and explored how they have been some of the most prominent artists in the genre, enabling the form to develop further.Through a workshop, participants examined how Zines and poetry can intersect. Participants were then encouraged to write and design their own poetry postcard. The session closed with a performance from Manganaro, an experienced spoken word artist, who uses the form as a means of exploring identity.doing together 25doing together is a yearly two-day making and sharing practice symposium at Locksbrook Campus, hosted by the Art Research Centre (Bath School of Art, Film and Media) in collaboration with Bath School of Design and the Centre of Cultural and Creative Industries.doing together is a platform to connect staff, students, and the community through making, collaboration and experimentation.Workshops, delivered by staff and PGR students from across the University, share practice-based research methods and a broad range of approaches to practice. doing together is proposed as a generous space to make/do/share and discuss practice with colleagues from a range of different Schools.Throughout the symposium, facilitators – alongside participants – test out ways of doing together in an effort to make their practice-based research explicit, rather than simply describe it.
