Tuscany Region — Surface Micropaleontology (BD_micro)

As part of the project “Micropaleontological surface database”, the problem of the lack of adequate structuring and dissemination of data on micropaleontological samples collected in the past during the various phases of surveying in the countryside of the Regional Geological Charter 10k was identified and addressed.The study of samples, in fact, provides a large amount of information the importance of which is relevant for the creation of a geological map. In particular, micropaleontological analyses and biostratigraphic and depositional paleoenvironmental data contained in the BD_micro can be used in the context of other regional reference databases currently active at SITA with the aim of making clarifications and identifying any anomalies or inconsistencies of the present data. The BD_micro is geometrically consistent compared to others of common interest in particular to that of the Geological DB but also to the river basins, administrative limits, etc.
