Numerical weather forecast Emilia Romagna

This dataset contains the numerical weather forecasts on Emilia Romagna in GRIB format, produced by Arpae Emilia-Romagna and based on the COSMO meteorological numerical model.
The COSMO model is developed and managed by the European Consortium of the same name, which includes various National Meteorological Services. Arpae-SIMC produces the forecasts according to the agreement “LAMI” (Limited Area Model Italy), between Arpae-SIMC, the Meteorological Service of the Air Force and ARPA Piemonte, with funding from the Department of National Civil Protection. All processing is performed on the CINECA supercomputing systems.

COSMO-5M data are produced 2 times a day (00 and 12 UTC), on a grid covering the entire Mediterranean Sea with a 5 km pass and with a time horizon of 72 hours, and are available from 03/07/2018. The initial analysis is produced by the analysis system of the Meteorological Service of the Air Force, the conditions at the boundary come from the ECMWF forecasts.

COSMO-2I data are produced 2 times a day (00 and 12 UTC), on a grid covering Italy with a 2.2 km pass and with a time horizon of 48 hours, and are available from 06/02/2020. The initial analysis is produced by Arpae-SIMC with a continuous data assimilation system that uses measures provided by the Meteorological Service of the Air Force, the boundary conditions come from the COSMO-5M forecasts.

The COSMO-I7 data comes from an old version of the COSMO model, and is available from 05/06/2012 to 03/07/2018. The model uses a grid that covers Italy with a wheelbase of 7 km, and has a time horizon of 72 hours. The initial analysis is produced by Arpae-SIMC with a continuous data assimilation system that uses measures provided by the Meteorological Service of the Air Force, the boundary conditions come from the forecasts.
