Salmonella Derby: genetic and antimicrobial diversity in Germany between 2000 and 2018. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Derby

Here, we report an analysis of 15 S. Derby isolates taken from pigs and cattle in slaughterhouses across Germany (2000-2015) and publicly-available German S. Derby sequence data, comprising a total of 65 isolates which were collected between 2004 and 2018 from different sources (i.e., pigs, humans, cattle, wild boar and poultry). We analyzed genetic diversity, antimicrobial resistance genes, virulence-associated genes, and performed plasmid characterization on isolates from both sources. These results could provide important insight for epidemiological surveillance of S. Derby and for the control of antimicrobial resistance.
