PTGM dashboard – dense, free and transition areas

Areas of dense, free and transitional areas, identified by the Metropolitan General Territorial Plan (PTGM), by municipality. The plan defines dense areas such as those parts of the territory characterised by a consolidated building fabric and qualified service functions for the community and having a significant urban planning system. The free areas are instead constituted by the territory outside the consolidated building and urban fabric or the built-up nuclei, and in any case the dense ones. They have a prevalent agricultural, forestry or natural function and are to be preserved from new construction interventions. Transition areas are buffer zones between dense and free areas, characterised by the alternating presence of built areas and residual free areas. Due to their absent or poor environmental value, they may be subject to limited interventions to complete the existing building fabric. (source Metropolitan City of Turin)
