(Table) Density and biomass of phytoplankton in Vostok Bay in August and September 2010

The natural phytoplankton was monitored by means of fluorimetric equipment in Vostok Bay of the Sea of Japan. A gradual increase in the microalgae abundance was revealed in the course of the main water current, which enters the bay and leaves it. The continuous registration of chlorophyll fluorescence at a fixed point in the bay indicates the significant microscale variation of the abundance and functional state of the phytoplankton.本研究采用荧光测定设备，对日本海沃斯托克湾（Vostok Bay）的自然浮游植物（phytoplankton）开展了原位监测工作。研究揭示：在流入并流出该海湾的主洋流运移过程中，微藻（microalgae）丰度呈逐渐升高的趋势。对该海湾内固定站位的叶绿素荧光（chlorophyll fluorescence）进行连续观测记录，结果表明浮游植物的丰度与功能状态存在显著的微尺度变异。
