The survey forms part of the project 'European Political Parties' Middle Level Elites', comprising almost identical surveys in the 9 EC countries existing at the time. The purpose of this European project is to provide material for a systematic comparison of the structure of party elites at middle level as well as to examine their attitudes to transnational policy-making. The data for all the surveys have been deposited at Mannheim, West Germany. #The Danish survey comprises delegates to the national congresses of 8 political parties in 1978 or in 1979: the Progress Party (Fremskridtspartiet), the Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti), the Centre Democratic Party (Centrum-demokraterne), the Social Democratic Party (Socialdemokratiet), the Socialist People's Party (Socialistisk Folkeparti), the Liberal Party (Venstre), the Christian People's Party (Kristeligt Folkeparti), and the Single-Tax Party (Retsforbundet). #The political recruitment of the delegates is mapped according to: # # 1) social status, # 2) political socialization, # 3) social and political mobility, and # 4) political attitudes. # #The delegates' attitudes to transnational policy-making are examined on the basis of their attitudes to: # # 1) the EC, # 2) European co-operation of various kinds, # 3) an extension of the EC, # 4) common election platforms for party groups in the EC, # 5) party co-operation within the EC, # 6) common election platforms for EC parliamentary elections, # 7) feelings of solidarity primarily towards European # countries, # 8) assessments of the strength of each EC member state
