In this study, we generated a full-length fluorescent reporter genome for
the emerging mosquito-borne flavivirus Usutu virus (USUV). We demonstrate
its utility for both in vitro and in vivo applications including antiviral
drug screening, gene expression studies, and infection tracking.
Currently, there is limited availability of USUV-specific reagents. Our
reporter virus facilitates mechanistic investigations into USUV infection
dynamics and serves as a foundation from which other reporter genomes can
be developed.
