This project investigates bacterial communities in freshwater water and sediment samples subjected to varying concentrations of arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd). The study aims to identify potential bacterial bioindicators responsive to heavy metal contamination through 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. By analyzing shifts in microbial composition and diversity across different contamination levels, this work provides insights into microbial responses to environmental heavy metal stress and the potential use of bacteria as biomarkers for monitoring aquatic ecosystem health.
