"Effects of peripartal rumen-derived direct-fed microbial supplementation on lactation performance, metabolism, ruminal fermentation, and microbial abundance in dairy cows." Supplementing rumen-derived direct-fed microbial (DFM) can improve forage digestibility and ruminal VFA production and consequently improve milk production and feed efficiency. The DFM used in this study was composed of <i>Clostridium beijerinckii</i> (1 x 10<sup>7</sup>), <i>Pichia kudriavzevii </i>(1 x 10<sup>8</sup>), <i>Ruminococcus</i> <i>bovis </i>(1 x 10<sup>8</sup>), <i>Butyrivibrio</i> <i>fibrisolvens</i> (1 x 10<sup>8</sup>). Rumen-derived DFM promoted positive responses in lactation performance during the post-fresh period (6 - 14 wk postpartum), such as milk yield and feed efficiency.
