Organic dust content top layer of soil

The map with the organic matter content in the top layer of the soil (the upper twenty centimetres) is made by Alterra Wageningen. Organic matter in soil is largely derived from plants and plant roots and for a small part of animal organisms. Soil organic matter is important for the binding of nutrients and soil moisture, the formation of structure, soil organisms, soil fertility and rootability of the soil profile.
