Guidance on the implementation of the BAT conclusions for intensive livestock farming

Installations for intensive rearing or rearing poultry or pigs are subject to the Industrial Emissions Directive from a certain number of animals. Thus, in the case of permit conditions for such installations, so-called BAT conclusions are to be used as a reference document. They describe the best available techniques (BAT). The guide helps operators and competent authorities to apply the BAT conclusions in intensive livestock farming. Calculation methods are proposed for the monitoring of ammonia, dust, all excreted nitrogen and phosphorus. The BAT conclusions apply immediately to new installations and existing installations must comply with them by 21.2.2021 at the latest.
