SARS-CoV-2 infects the upper respiratory tract, prompting investigation into its impact on the nasopharyngeal microbiome and potential clinical consequences. In this study, nasopharyngeal samples from 59 ambulatory adults in Ecuador (41 SARS-CoV-2 positive and 18 negative) were analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing and downstream bioinformatics, including diversity metrics, differential abundance, and functional prediction.
