IBERBIRDS: A dataset of flying bird species present in the Iberian Peninsula

IBERBIRDS is a is a fully annotated dataset designed to advance research in automatic bird detection and classification. It features 4,000 images of flying bird species present to the Iberian Peninsula, specifically relevant within the natural environment of Monfragüe National Park, Spain. The dataset focuses on mid-to-long-range photographs of birds in flight, replicating real-world birdwatching conditions and supporting the development of robust avian detection algorithms. The dataset includes 10 ecologically significant medium- to large-sized bird species, with 400 images per species. Each image is accompanied by an annotation text file with bounding boxes in the YOLO detection format, enabling precise detection and classification of bird species in flight.
