The cartographic level represents the sites of establishments in the regional territory likely to cause major accidents within the meaning of Legislative Decree 105/2015, issued in implementation of Directive 2012/18/EU of 4 July 2012. The establishments are separated into lower-tier establishments and upper-tier establishments depending on the category of hazardous substance treated and the limit quantity identified in Annex 1 to Legislative Decree 105/2015.
