Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, building information modelling, and Internet of Things systems are often positioned as key enablers of circular economy practices in construction. However, empirical evidence explaining how digital capabilities translate into circular performance remains fragmented. This study examines whether cross-layer alignment among Digital Infrastructure, Circular Strategies, Business Models, and Institutional Enablers, as conceptualized in the Digital Circularity Alignment Model (DCAM), is associated with perceived circular outcomes in Nordic wood construction. Drawing on a survey of 223 value-chain stakeholders, the analysis reveals asymmetries across the DCAM layers: digital infrastructure and circular strategies exhibit comparatively high maturity, while business-model and institutional conditions lag behind, constraining the realization of circular value. Cross-layer alignment is strongly associated with perceived circular outcomes, and this relationship tends to be stronger under supportive institutional conditions. Given the cross-sectional self-report design, results are interpreted as associations. The study contributes an empirically operationalized alignment mechanism connecting resource-based and sociotechnical perspectives and offers a diagnostic basis for targeted interventions (e.g., interoperability standards, reuse marketplaces, and procurement and training initiatives).
