WGS_from_Tanzania_cichlid_fish

This project concerns data from experiments undertaken as part of Richard Durbin 's group's long-term research into the evolutionary genomics of the Lake Malawi cichlid fish radiation. It contains whole genome shotgun data from wild-caught fish. All samples sequenced had DNA extracted at WSI from ethanol preserved fin clips, using a 96-well QiaSymphony solution, and were sequenced on Illumina NovaSeq. The Malawi radiation has created several hundred species of cichlid fish that have low genetic divergence (0.15-0.25%) but high phenotypic divergence. Results so far have identified multiple loci under selection and/or genetically associated with adaptive traits. The data from this study will help further characterise genetic variation and identify other functional variants.
