Microbiome associated with Gambierdiscus australes and Ostreopsis cf. ovata, two benthic dinoflagellates isolated from the NE Atlantic Ocean (Las Palmas, Gran Canaria)

We have investigated the bacterial community associated with two clonal cultures, Gambierdiscus australes (GA) and Ostreopsis cf. ovata (Oo), isolated simultaneously from the same seaweed samples and location, through both phylogenetic analyses of 16S rDNA and bacterial strain cultivation, together with toxin production, in order to observe associated microbiome specie-specificity and/or connection with the different toxicity level of the two clonal cultures.The microbiome associated with cultures of G. australes and O. cf. ovata has also been compared with previous literature reports in order to evaluate how recurrent the bacterial associations are.
