资源简介:
First analyses of the pristine asteroid material collected from the surface of the dark, carbonaceous asteroid 101955 Bennu by NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft have reported widespread abundance of hydrated minerals and organic material [1]. Up-to-now we mainly applied high-energy (90 keV) synchrotron X-ray fluorescence (SXRF) spectroscopy to investigate the concentration levels of rare-earth elements (REEs) in Ca-phosphates and carbonates, both products of aqueous alteration. Our results [2, 3] indicate higher REE levels in Bennu material relative to material collected from the surface of the similarly dark, carbonaceous asteroid Ryugu [4, 5]. Unambiguous identification of the analysed REE-bearing mineral phases (inferred to be Ca-phosphates and carbonates), planned by this experiment, will be essential for accurate interpretation of our data and their implications for the processes of aqueous alteration on ancient carbonaceous asteroids.
