Environment Regulation- Green Development Zone

The province aims to enable the development of combinations of functions of nature with other functions when they contribute substantially to strengthening the ecological coherence of the nature of the Gelders nature network and the existing landscape and cultural historical qualities. The Green Development Zone consists of areas with a different destination than nature that is spatially intertwined with the Gelders nature network. These are mainly agricultural land, but also areas for leisure and day recreation, infrastructure, housing and businesses. The update plan was adopted by Provincial States on 15 December 2021, the date of entry into force is 1 February 2022.
