Number of passenger cars produced in Hungary 2019-2023

The number of automobiles manufactured in Hungary followed a decreasing trend in the first couple of years of the observed period. However, the number of passenger cars produced in the country peaked at nearly 509,000 in 2023.Passenger car manufacturers  The automotive sector is one of the most important branches of the Hungarian manufacturing industry, counting four significant automotive producers in 2021. Audi Hungaria was the most successful passenger car manufacturer in the country in 2021, considering its turnover which totaled 7.72 billion euros. It was followed by Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing with a turnover of 3.1 billion euros. Vehicle exports  The value of vehicles exported from Hungary totaled 18.5 billion euros in 2021, marking an increase compared to the previous year. During the same year, vehicles exported to Germany were valued at 6.9billion euros, making it the most important market for Hungary. Slovakia was the second biggest importer of Hungarian vehicles, with exports to the country reaching nearly one billion euros.
