A new technique for use in the study of the microbiome: Maintaining the integrity of an explant microbiome

In this study, we attempted to create an ex-vivo microbiome explanted from the large distal colon of 4 Balb/c female mice. The purpose of this project was to attempt to produce a cost-effective means of studying the microbiome of a model organism. Additionally, we attempted to compare microbial composition of the feces and large distal colon to determine if future experiments can utilize feces.
