Nitrapyrin has been widely used in agriculture to decrease soil nitrification and mitigate N2O emissions. However, the impacts of nitrapyrin addition on the soil carbon conversion and C-cycling related functional community in calcareous soil is largely unexplored. Here, a batch microcosm incubation experiment was carried out to investigate the influences of nitrapyrin addition, subsequently analyzing the CO2 emission fluxes by Picarro G2508, measuring the C-cycling-related enzyme activities and the abundance and structure of cellulolytic community via methods of biochemistry and high-throughput sequencing, respectively. The four treatments were (i) unfertilized, (ii) urea, (iii) urea plus cattle manure, (iv) urea plus cattle manure plus nitrapyrin.
