White-tailed Deer Virome Sequencing

The goal of this study was to characterize the virome of the upper respiratory tract in white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus). Nasopharyngeal swabs were collected by USDA-APHIS Wildlife Services and subjected to enriched metagenomic sequencing. This study investigates the diversity of animal viruses present in the upper respiratory tract of white-tailed deer, the occurrence of viral co-infections, and the potential implications of these viruses on human and livestock health.
