Metadata

site_code is the key to join different data within the region

distances are in listed in km

distances are derived from the R package library(sf) and the single function st_distance on the geometry vector for the lat-long per site instance

the minimum distances list the distance (in km) and site closest/adjacent to a given site

Use

these distance data can be used to infer independence ecological for research

however, other attributes such as species turnover, physical barriers and breaks, and logical associations between sites are not replaced by using distances between sites

for joins to climate and derived data at different spatial resolutions, independence estimated through distances is useful
