The gut bacterial community potentiates Clostridiodes difficile infection disease severity

Here we show differences in the gut bacterial community results in differences in the severity of the disease from C. difficile infection. We analyzed the fecal 16S rRNA gene sequences to determine which bacterial community members were associated with variation moribuundity, toxin production and histopathologic damage. We found specific groups of bacteria that associated with the disease severity.
