During late October of 1985, when forecasters along the Gulf Coast were battling Hurricane Juan, forecasters in Ohio were battling high temperature forecasts. For three days straight, October 28-30, temperatures were recovering only a fraction of the difference between the morning low and the MOS forecast high -- an average of only 68% of this difference. Winds during this episode were steadily out of the east and northeast due to the hurricane.
